Who we are

Under The Stars (UTS) is an independent European editorial network and community, built by and for the under-30 generation of the European Union, currently in its founding phase. This page explains what happens to your personal data when you use this website or apply to join the network. We wrote it to be read. If anything is unclear, ask us.

Under The Stars is currently in its founding phase and not yet formally incorporated. This section will be completed with our registered legal entity and address once that process is finished.

What we collect, and why

When you apply to become a Contributor, Patron, or Partner through our Connect page, we ask for information such as your name, age, email address, country, and a short message about why you want to join. We process this on the basis of your consent, given by submitting the form, and, where you're accepted into the network, to take the steps needed to bring you on board.

When you send a form, it is delivered to our inbox by Resend, the email service we use. Resend only transmits it to us and does not use it for anything else.

We don't sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. It's read only by the people at UTS who handle applications.

Cookies and tracking

We don't use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies. See our Cookie Policy for the full detail on the one thing we do store locally.

Third-party services

This website is self-contained: fonts and every other asset are served from our own domain. We don't load fonts, analytics, or embeds from third-party servers, so no browsing data is passed to anyone else just by visiting this site.

Two providers are involved when you use the forms on the Connect page:

• Cloudflare hosts this website. When you start filling in a form, it may run Turnstile, a short automated check that tells people from bots. It is used only to stop spam.
• Resend delivers what you submit to our inbox.

Neither uses your data for advertising or profiling. If we add another provider, we'll update this page first.

International transfers

Cloudflare and Resend are based in the United States, so the data in a form you send may be processed outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, it is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as set out in each provider's data processing terms.

Data retention

If your application isn't accepted, we delete your data within 6 months of the decision. If you join the network, we keep your information for as long as you're part of it, and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, after which it's deleted.

Your rights

As a resident of the European Union, under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Correct it if it's inaccurate or incomplete
• Request its deletion
• Restrict or object to how we process it
• Receive it in a portable format
• Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything processed before that point

To exercise any of these, reach out to us through the Connect page or at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority at any time.

Automated decisions

People review applications. We don't use automated decision-making or profiling anywhere on this site.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and revise the effective date above.
